If you want to make it a challenge, how about getting a pedometer to track your steps and slowly work up to 10,000 steps a day? You’ll also have the added benefit of taking in some fresh air and just using the walk to reflect on your day, which can both leave you feeling de-stressed.

Commercial breaks are a pain, but now you can make use of them: how about doing some jumping jacks or a round of crunches while you’re waiting for the ads to be over?

Sometimes standing up at work isn’t an option, but that won’t stop you moving altogether. Try replacing your desk chair with an exercise ball – the mere act of sitting on this ball forces you to stabilize your abs! Have a walk around the office every couple of hours, pace the room whilst taking a phone call: these are all small changes that can make a huge difference.

Cleaning the house properly actually takes some proper effort – many people actually tend to break into a sweat because it’s essentially manual labor. That vacuum cleaner certainly isn’t light, and changing the bedsheets is a huge effort all on its own! Did you know that a vigorous clean can help you to burn around 100 calories in just 30 minutes?

Forget catching up with your friends over a cup of coffee – how boring and sedentary! What about doing an activity together, such as dancing or rock-climbing? Nothing feels so good as an endorphin-fuelled chat with your best buds.
