The Fast and Furious movies are all about family. But, it seems that serious problems behind the scenes are affecting the possible future of the franchise. Vin Diesel and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson just cannot get along. Their relationship had been rocky for quite a while, but things got worse after wrapping up The Fate of the Furious in 2016. As a result of the tension between the actors, it is difficult to tell whether Johnson will agree to star in another movie.
According to Johnson’s recent interview with Rolling Stone, Vin and Dwayne have had several conversations about the situation and came to a conclusion that they ‘have a fundamental difference in philosophies on how we approach moviemaking and collaborating.’ Johnson admitted that it took some time to realize this but he is grateful for the clarity.
In 2016, Dwayne called out one of the actors on the set of The Fate of the Furious on his Instagram for being unprofessional and referred to them as ‘candy ass’. It was quickly revealed that the person he talked about was Vin Diesel, and Johnson was concerned with Diesel’s work ethics.
Fans are obviously not happy that Johnson and Diesel have their differences, as this may affect the future of the franchise. When asked whether he would appear in Fast and Furious 9, Johnson simply replied, ‘I’m not quite sure.’ At the moment, Dwayne is working on developing Hobbs and Shaw, The Fast and Furious spin-off, and it means that we will probably still see our favorite character again
Johnson said that he wishes Vin Diesel ‘all the best’. The actor stated that he harbors no ill will, because of the clarity that they got. Then added, ‘Actually, you can erase that last part about ‘no ill will.’ We’ll just keep it with the clarity.’
Well, it seems that we will hear more about this feud in the future.
