20. The Runaways (2010)
Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning stare in this biopic of the pioneering all-female rock band, taking us through all of the music and the backstage antics of the group. Based on the book written by Cherrie Currie – Neon Angel: A Memoir of a Runaway – and directed by Floria Sigismondi, the film takes us from the band’s very formation up until the point where Cherrie walks away from the group. Stewart does an amazing job of portraying Joan Jett as the badass that she is, and while Fanning seems a little too ‘wallflower’ to really pass as a convincing Cherry Currie, we still loved the film and its soundtrack, which features the actors!
