What is food?
First of all, it’s a source of energy that our bodies need in order to survive. We must eat something like 2,000 calories per day, including things like fat, proteins, and carbohydrates in appropriate proportion or our organs will simply cease working.
However, food is also so much more than this. That what we eat affects our physical and mental health on a very deep level, therefore influencing our mood and behavior. It’s safe to say that to some degree we really are what we eat.
What’s more, different traditions of cooking and serving the food are also an important part of each nation’s culture. By studying eating habits of a country we can learn a lot about its history in general.
